All hail Caesar: Caesars Palace plans roman tower revamp

As Caesars Palace in Las Vegas prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary, it has been announced that the original Roman Tower, soon to be unveiled as the new Julius Tower, will undergo a $75 million renovation.

The high-rise wing is the latest piece of a $1 billion investment, cementing Caesars Palace as the premier resort at the center of the Las Vegas Strip. The new 587-room Julius Tower features refreshed design-savvy, modern rooms and suites, and will welcome its first guests on January 1, 2016.

Each of the tower’s 587 rooms will have a neutral color pattern with touches of “freesia yellow and Aegean blue,” according to a hotel statement. Mirrored headboards, 55-inch flat-screen TVs, double-sink bathrooms and artwork that juxtaposes photos of Roman statues with hand-drawn showgirl costumes will also feature.

Drawing from Roman history, the name of the new Julius Tower pays homage to Julius Caesar, the first and best-known of all the Caesars. He was a pivotal figure in ancient Rome, credited with laying the foundation for the Roman Empire. Fittingly, the new Julius Tower represents a rebirth of the original tower at Caesars Palace, around which the legendary casino resort has expanded into one of the most iconic landmarks in Las Vegas. Today, Julius Tower is located at the heart of Caesars Palace, with easy access to the casino floor and all of the resort’s world-class amenities.

Caesars will also open a new Mr. Chow restaurant in December and welcomes back Elton John and “The Million Dollar Piano” show in January and April.
