Extravagant Theater to be Launched in Downtown Las Vegas

702 ENT is thrilled to announce some exciting news: COMING SOON – a luxury theater in Downtown Las Vegas. Eclipse Theaters is owned by Eclipse Theaters Development Group LLC, which was founded in 2013 and is based in Las Vegas. An extravagant movie theater complex is anticipated to break ground in Downtown Las Vegas next month.

Situated at the corner of South Third Street and Gass Avenue, the eight-screen Eclipse Theaters is anticipated to open later this month and will boast of having a bar, lounge and restaurant.
This three-story, 72,000-square-foot Eclipse Theaters building will be anchored on the first floor by 21 Greens, an indoor golf emulator that expected to open approximately 45 to 60 days after the theater is unveiled. The second floor will house the restaurant, bar, lounge and theaters.

The top floor of the edifice will be open for private functions such as exhibitions or birthday parties. Executive director of operations Ryan Stock, claimed that two private rooms on the third floor will overlook screens on the second floor, similar to a private box at a sporting event.

Eclipse Theaters will employ approximately 150 people altogether for the theater, dining operation and 21 Greens attraction, which has an affiliation to the company, according to Stock. Ranging from 30 to 40 seats to 70 to 80 seats in size, the theaters will seat 540 people in large, extra-padded seats, according to Stock.

Stock continued explaining that the theater is planned to appeal to locals and tourists alike. Regular admission will be $18; however, seniors will pay $16 anytime. Additionally, a matinee from Monday through Thursday before 5 p.m. will cost $16. Premier tickets will start at $19-$21 and come with a bag of popcorn, a blanket and wait service.

As for the food and beverage options, Stock stated that there “won’t be a traditional setup where there will be a concession stand.”

As an alternative, Stock claimed that a service team will attend to guests “chef-catered meals that have been made from scratch daily.” Beer, wine and craft cocktails will also be on offer.

While the company is focused on the first location, it is also “absolutely interested in growing the brand both in Las Vegas as well as other cities around the country.” Besides showing first-run films and independent movies, Stock said he wants to eventually hold premieres at the site.

The almost $21 million project could open its door as early as this month, yet the company has refused to give a precise date. The upscale theater desires to close the cinematic void in downtown left by the closing of the 11-screen Galaxy Theaters at Neonopolis back in 2009.

The project’s managing director Nic Steele, has striving plans to show a wide range of content, from first-run films to arthouse films and sporting events. He envisions the theater as filling a void in an up-and-coming area miles removed from the nearest competitor.

“Time and time again we’ve heard from different people in the area that a theater is one of the things they would bring to the area if they could,” Steele explicated. A big attraction, Steele believes, will be the theater’s high-end amenities, which include leather seating, restaurant fare, drinks and a waiting service.

Though much of the new development in Downtown Las Vegas over the past few years has sprouted up around the East Fremont Street district, a result of the Tony Hsieh-funded Downtown Project, Eclipse Theaters will be closer to upscale Arts District housing, including the Soho Lofts, the Newport Lofts and the Juhl.

“The way I see it is the Downtown Project and Tony Hsieh have done a fantastic job of being the spark for downtown,” Steele explained. “But you really need other developers to come in and fill in the void. You can’t have one group or one developer determining the vision for Downtown.”

Steele said the project is expected to bring about 400 construction jobs and 100 permanent jobs.

“Typically what you see is when a theater is built is it’s a destination point,” Steele said. “What I fully expect to happen is once Eclipse Theaters starts to build construction you’ll start to see plans for other businesses in the area.”

The city has approved the complex’s design and is currently processing permits for its construction. Needless to say, Steele expressed that he’s “looking forward to the next year”.
