The 5 Most Popular Casino Games in Las Vegas

It’s no secret that the gambling scene is huge in The City of Lights. Everyone loves to gamble from time to time, and if there’s anywhere to do so, it’s in Vegas!

Even though people don’t always win, the real fun is in the game itself. Here is a list of the most popular casino games in Las Vegas.

Slot Machines
By far, slot machines are the most popular casino games internationally, for a number of reasons, namely that they’re so easy to play. All it takes is inserting your coins into the machine, and pulling a handle or pressing a button that causes the wheel to spin. Once the wheel stops, the player wins according to the pattern of the symbols. Online slots are also the most popular online casino game, and with the ever-advancing technology, game developers are able to up their ‘game’ and keep customers coming back.

Blackjack
In Las Vegas, blackjack is played on a semi-circular table, with the rounded side facing the players and the flat side facing the dealer. Blackjack is a card game in which the dealer deals out two cards facing upright to each player and keeps two cards; one facing up, the other facing down. Each player’s goal is to draw cards with a value close as possible to 21 without going over. The hand with the highest total, provided it doesn’t exceed 21, is the winner. Any value over 21 is called a “bust” or “break” and is an automatic loss.

Roulette
‘Roulette’ is French for ‘little wheel’, which is what the game is made of; a wheel with red or black randomly numbered slots from 0 to 36, with most American casinos having wheels with two zeros. Players must stand or sit around the roulette table, and as the wheel spins, the croupier sets a small ball spinning in the opposite direction. When the wheel slows down, the ball will land in one of the numbered slots, determining wins depending on what bets the players have placed. Players can continue to place bets while the ball spins around the wheel until the dealer announces that there will be no more bets.

Poker
Poker is another famous card game based on a five-card hand. Hands are ranked from the lowest to the highest in the following order: high card, pair, two pair, three of a kind, straight, flush, full house, four of a kind, straight flush, and royal flush. The player with the best hand is the winner. The process of joining a poker game in Vegas might be slightly daunting, but the key is to relax, have fun, and pay close attention to everything.

Craps
Walk into pretty much any casino and the noisiest and biggest crowd is probably the one around the Craps Table. Craps is a high-energy dice game where players make wagers on the outcome of the roll or a series of rolls of a pair of dice. If a 7 or 11 turn up on the first roll of the dice, the shooter wins, no matter what they bet. In the same way, if the shooter rolls a 2, 3 or 12 on the first roll, they lose the money – but not the dice. When someone rolls any other number, that number becomes their “point”. The shooter keeps rolling until their point turns up again for a win, or until they throw a 7 and loses the money and the dice.
