What licences and paperwork are needed?

Sorting out all the licences and documentation required is probably the most important aspect of arranging a wedding in Las Vegas. Firstly, anyone wishing to get married in Vegas should look to acquire a marriage licence from Clark County. For those travelling across the US, or coming from another country, save time by filling in the application online.

Nevada is one of the only states that allows couples to apply for a marriage license and get married immediately thereafter, with most county clerks providing the physical licenses in office after application. Both US citizens and foreign couples are welcome to apply for a Nevada marriage license and must follow this procedure:

• Both parties must appear to apply for the Nevada marriage license,
• Provide proper identification with name and birthdate information (driver’s license, passport)
• Pay a fee, which varies by county

Nevada marriage licenses must be used within 60 days of issuance. Once you have your Nevada marriage license, you may proceed with your wedding ceremony. You need to have an approved officiant preside over your wedding vows, complete your Nevada marriage license, and return it to the county clerk’s office for final processing. To legally preside over a Nevada wedding, your officiant must possess a Certificate to Solemnize Marriages, issued by the state of Nevada. Most religious ministers and wedding chapel officiants possess this certification. You can consult the state of Nevada database for registered officiants.

Venue costs

Venue costs really depend on the sort of package and venue you prefer. Some of the big name casinos on the Strip can be rather hefty, even at their most basic, but then if you throw in the additional perks it might cost even more. The benefit of getting married on the Strip is that a lot of casinos offer huge complimentary deals for couples becoming husband and wife there.

If you’re opting for a cheaper venue then you need to consider what you want from the ceremony. Keep in mind, different venues offer different packages, but at the most basic you need about $75 to cover the venue and master of ceremony. Photos, DVDs, and keepsakes of the day will cost extra so try to budget for those accordingly, but again, this will be a personal preference.

Can people from UK/ Australia/ Canada legally marry here?

Yes. Citizens from the UK, Australia, and Canada will be able to legally marry in Las Vegas. Additionally, their marriage on foreign soil will be recognized within their native country too, as long as it complies with the laws of marriage of those respective countries.

Is Additional Insurance Needed?

Like travelling elsewhere, it’s always advisable to take out health insurance. But if you’re getting married in a foreign country, then it’s also advised that you take out extra insurance to cover the rings, wedding dress, groom’s suit, and any other items included in the wedding ceremony that have sentimental or monetary value.

Can I Hire Wedding Dresses and Outfits In Las Vegas?

Yes, you don’t need to worry about taking your own dress or outfits to Las Vegas when travelling there. You’d be glad to know that there are a sufficient number of hire shops that give tourists the chance to hire a dress and groom’s suit on a short-term basis.
