David Copperfield

Where: MGM Grand
When: October 9, 2016

A Guinness Book of World Records holder with 21 Emmys and a star on the Hollywood “Walk of Fame,” Copperfield approaches his show with the idea that less is more. From his surprise appearance on the stage at the top of the show to his simple departure at the end, he has an approachable, pleasant attitude that makes the audience feel at ease.

Copperfield’s relationship with magic goes way back. Rewind to 1982, where he started a rehabilitation program, called Project Magic, which helps disabled patients regain lost or damaged dexterity skills in more than 1,000 hospitals internationally. Copperfield has a very tongue-in-cheek type of humour and takes life with a pinch of salt and even pokes fun at himself. To prove his volunteers are randomly chosen, Copperfield flings small Frisbees or large silver beach balls into the audience sometimes, taking whoever catches them up onto the stage.

Sir Elton John: The Million Dollar Piano

Where: Caesars Palace, The Colosseum
When: October 12 – 29, 2016

Legendary singer – songwriter Elton John takes the stage at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum. The show’s called “The Million Dollar Piano” because Elton performs on a Yamaha piano engineered with about 68 LED video screens. While the visual spectacle of Elton’s performance is always enjoyable, it’s the phenomenal music and Elton’s amazing performances that make his show a must-see when in Vegas. Elton is escorted by his band: Davey Johnstone on guitar, Matt Bissonette on bass, John Mahon on percussion, Nigel Olsson on drums and Kim Bullard on keyboards. Percussionist Ray Cooper is scheduled to make a special appearance.

In 1996, Elton was named Commander of the Order of the British Empire and in 1998, the Queen of England knighted him Sir Elton John in acknowledgement of both his contributions to music and his venerable altruistic work. The following year he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Sarah Silverman
