Anticipation for next month’s mega UFC pay-per-view in Las Vegas continues to build, as a new lightweight bout between Salas and Saggo is added.
After what will be nearly 20 months on the sidelines, Justin Salas will face Jason Saggo at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on March 5th. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Since his TKO loss against Joe Proctor at UFC 45 in July 2014, Salas hasn’t fought.
From coming to the UFC on a five-fight winning streak that included decisions over Rob Emerson and Joe Ellenberger, Salas has alternated wins and losses in the promotion with victories over Anton Kuivanene, Aaron Riley and Ben Wall, but losses to Tim Means, Thiago Tavares and Proctor.
Saggy has been out for a while too. He most recently fought at UFC Fight Night 54 in October 2014, where he suffered a split-decision loss to Paul Felder. The setback ended a five-fight winning streak that included a first-round TKO victory over Josh Shockley at UFC 174, which was the Canadian’s promotional debut.
With the additional fight added, the latest UFC 196 card includes:
Champ Rafael dos Anjos vs. Conor McGregor – for lightweight title
Champ Holly Holm vs. Miesha Tate – for women’s bantamweight title
Corey Anderson vs. Tom Lawlor
Erick Silva vs. Nordine Taleb
Darren Elkins vs. Chas Skelly
Jim Miller vs. Diego Sanchez
Marcelo Guimaraes vs. Vitor Miranda
Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko
Ilir Latifi vs. Gian Villante
Jason Saggo vs. Justin Salas
