Lucky Dragon, Las Vegas’ State-Of-The-Art Resort, Opening its Doors Early

702 ENT has yet another exciting announcement for the public: anyone gracing this Sin City will get the opportunity to witness that 1¼-ton glass dragon statue at the Lucky Dragon hotel-casino even earlier than anticipated. Last Friday, business spokespersons established that the 200-room Asian-inspired building will be opening at 8 p.m. Saturday, two weeks before the broadcasted grand opening day.

That said, the December 3rd grand opening with numerous celebratory functions is still scheduled to happen. The hotel-casino, the original resort built from the ground up in Las Vegas since The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas was completed back in 2010, is on the north side of Sahara Avenue which is around a half-mile west of Las Vegas Boulevard.

Encompassing a whopping 27,500-square-feet, the property’s casino with 37 table games and 300 slot machines will be open for business. The same can be said for its Chinese restaurants on the atrium level overlooking the casino floor and into the middle of the enormous centerpiece dragon fashioned with the intent to give players good luck.

In a recent press release, Chief Operating Officer, Dave Jacoby said, “Lucky Dragon in and of itself is something completely unique, not only in Las Vegas but in the world”.

Jacoby continued explaining that “this one-of-a-kind centerpiece of the resort will welcome guests from around the world to our gaming floor and provide good fortune and warm hospitality to all of Lucky Dragon’s guests.”

Lucky Dragon representatives are expecting the bulk of their business to come from resident Asian players and local Chinese customers from the West Coast.

Although Hainan Airlines will begin flying continuously from Beijing to Las Vegas beginning one day before the grand opening celebration, Lucky Dragon owner Andrew Fonfa predicts that most hotel guests will be coming from California, though the property won’t refuse foreign guests who want to try something different when they arrive in Las Vegas.

Complemented with five restaurants, where food has been prepared for onsite employees who have been training for nearly two weeks, the opening will be a “night market,” inspired by street food outlets in Taipei and Beijing.

Freshly prepared Chinese food, will be offered by The Jewel Kitchen and there will also be a dim sum restaurant where patrons can choose live seafood from a tank, a fine-dining restaurant that will serve delectable dishes like abalone, Kurobuta pork and deer tendon and a grab-and-go bistro.

Needless to say, the centerpiece lucky glass dragon is the star of the casino. Designed and built by Preciosa Lighting in the Czech Republic’s famed Crystal Valley area, almost 800 employees invested twelve 40-hour workweeks to create the sculpture. It took an entire 13 days to assemble it once it arrived after a lengthy 7,000-mile journey.

Nose to tail, the dragon is 15 feet long, and it stands at 23 feet. What’s more, the sculpture has 762 individual customized glass scales. The hotel, which is home to a tea garden with its own tea connoisseur, has nine floors. Interestingly, however, the elevator skips the fourth floor since the Chinese regard the number 4 as an unlucky, but eight — a lucky Chinese number — is wild throughout the property.
